The Texas Rangers have made another roster adjustment, selecting infielder Jonah Bride from Triple-A Round Rock as the club continues to make changes to its roster. To create room for Bride on the 26-man roster, Texas optioned outfielder Alejandro Osuna back to Round Rock. The Rangers also transferred right-hander Jack Leiter to the 60-day injured list, opening a spot on the 40-man roster for the newly added infielder.

Bride will now get another opportunity to establish himself at the major-league level after putting together a strong start at Triple-A this season. The 30-year-old has previous MLB experience with three different organizations and will look to turn his recent minor-league production into a productive stint with Texas.

Bride Earns Another MLB Opportunity

The Oakland Athletics selected Bride in the 23rd round of the 2018 MLB Draft, and he eventually reached the majors in 2022. He appeared at the highest level in every season from 2022 through 2025, splitting time between the Athletics, Miami Marlins and Minnesota Twins.

Across 214 major-league games and 690 plate appearances during that stretch, Bride showed flashes of offensive ability. His best season came in 2024 with Miami, when he posted a .276/.357/.461 slash line while producing 11 home runs in a career-high 272 plate appearances. He also posted a 124 wRC+, struck out in only 20.2% of his plate appearances and drew walks at an 11% rate.

Struggles With Minnesota Led to a Fresh Start

Bride’s momentum changed the following season. After struggling during the early portion of the 2025 campaign, the Marlins traded him to the Twins for cash considerations.

The move failed to spark a turnaround. Bride continued to struggle offensively with Minnesota and finished the season without a home run. In 125 plate appearances, he hit just .170/.248/.188 while recording a 23 wRC+ and striking out in 31.2% of his trips to the plate.

Minnesota eventually designated him for assignment in June. After clearing waivers, Bride remained with the organization’s Triple-A affiliate for the rest of the season before becoming a free agent and signing a minor-league contract with Texas during the offseason.

Strong Triple-A Performance Earns Promotion

Bride has looked much more comfortable with Round Rock this season, giving the Rangers a reason to bring him back to the majors. Before his promotion, he was batting .282/.401/.425 with 10 home runs and nine stolen bases.

His plate discipline has also been particularly encouraging. Bride had drawn more walks than strikeouts, walking in 16.7% of his plate appearances while striking out 16% of the time. Even while playing in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League, his production remained impressive, with his wRC+ indicating that he had performed 16% better than league average.

The Rangers are now hoping that his improved approach and offensive consistency can carry over to the majors.

Bride Brings Infield Versatility

Defensively, Bride has experience at several infield positions. His major-league appearances have come at the corner-infield spots and second base, with third base being his primary position.

Texas plans to put him at third base immediately, with Bride expected to start Sunday’s game against Orioles left-hander Cade Povich. His ability to move around the infield could give the Rangers additional flexibility as they manage their roster and lineup.

There is also an important roster consideration attached to his promotion. Bride is out of minor-league options, meaning Texas cannot simply send him back to Round Rock without first exposing him to waivers. If the Rangers eventually decide they want to return him to Triple-A, another team could potentially claim him.

Leiter’s Move to 60-Day IL

While Bride joins the active roster, the Rangers made another significant move involving Leiter. The right-hander has been sidelined since June 19, when he was placed on the 15-day injured list.

Leiter subsequently underwent arthroscopic ankle surgery several days later, putting his season in doubt. Texas has now transferred him to the 60-day injured list, but the move does not necessarily indicate a new setback or a longer recovery timeline.

Leiter recently took another step in his rehabilitation process by throwing a 33-pitch live batting-practice session on Saturday. However, he has not yet begun a formal minor-league rehab assignment.

Rangers Continue Adjusting Their Roster

The series of moves reflects Texas’ ongoing effort to balance immediate roster needs with the long-term health of its players. Bride gives the club another experienced infield option while Leiter’s placement on the 60-day injured list creates the necessary roster space.

For Bride, the promotion represents another chance to prove that his strong Triple-A performance is more than a hot streak. After experiencing major-league struggles in 2025, he has rebuilt his value with an impressive start at Round Rock.

If he can carry that production into Texas, the Rangers may have found a useful contributor at an important point in the season.
