East Carolina University football has scored a major transfer portal victory, securing Jacarrius Peak, the No. 1 offensive tackle in the portal rankings, from NC State. Peak brings Power Five experience, versatility at both tackle positions, and immediate starter potential, giving the Pirates’ offensive line a significant boost heading into the 2026 season.
A seasoned ACC starter, Peak started 32 consecutive games over the past three seasons, allowing just 13 pressures and three sacks while protecting the blindside. The Valdosta, Ga., native joined NC State as a three-star recruit and quickly developed into one of the Wolfpack’s most consistent linemen. His experience includes playing both left and right tackle, giving him the versatility to fill multiple roles on the Pirates’ offensive front.
Peak’s arrival addresses a critical need for ECU’s offensive line, which looked to improve depth and experience following several departures from the 2025 roster. Head coach Blake Harrell and offensive coordinator John David Baker, who also serves as the quarterbacks coach, now have a battle-tested tackle capable of strengthening both pass protection and the running game immediately.
Ranked as the top offensive tackle in the On3 transfer portal, Peak drew attention from multiple Power Five programs before committing, making this signing a signature win for ECU’s offseason strategy. His addition also highlights the Pirates’ approach to the portal: targeting high-impact players who can start right away and elevate the team’s competitiveness in the American Athletic Conference.
For the Pirates, Peak’s presence is expected to mentor younger linemen, improve overall line cohesion, and provide a game-changing weapon in both the run and pass game. With a combination of size, athleticism, and experience, he is poised to make an immediate impact on ECU’s offensive performance in 2026.
This signing continues a trend of ECU aggressively using the transfer portal to blend proven talent with rising high school recruits, creating a more dynamic, competitive roster as the Pirates aim to compete at a high level in the AAC.
