FINALLY HOME: Collin Klein Makes Familiar Face Reunion at Key K-State Role

Collin Klein is back, and he’s bringing familiar faces with him. Kansas State’s new head coach officially reunited with key players and staff he knows well, creating instant excitement for the Wildcats’ 2026 season.

One of the most notable reunions involves wide receiver Josh Manning, the Lee’s Summit, Missouri, native who almost committed to K-State in 2022 before starting his college career at Missouri. Manning returned to Manhattan this January, stepping into the Vanier Family Football Complex for the first time as a Wildcat and immediately getting to work with Klein and new strength coach Jeremy Jacobs.

“I just want to leave college football with no regrets,” Manning said. “When I left my visit to K-State this month, I knew this was the place I wanted to be. FaceTiming Avery [Johnson] right after and seeing his reaction—that was special. We’re finally getting to do it right the second time.”

Five things: Impact of Kansas State transfer WR Josh Manning

The 6-foot-2, 211-pound Manning has steadily contributed over three seasons at Missouri, recording 42 catches for 510 yards and three touchdowns, including a standout performance against Auburn in double overtime last year. Now, under Klein’s leadership and wide receivers coach Thad Ward, Manning is confident the Wildcats’ offense will be dynamic and explosive.

This reunion isn’t just about players—Klein’s return has brought back a network of trusted staff, familiar systems, and a winning mindset. With key faces reunited and fresh opportunities ahead, Kansas State fans have plenty to be excited about as the Wildcats prepare for a season full of big plays and new beginnings.
