**Boston Red Sox Makes Another Shocking Move As Team Reunite With $1.5 Million, 3.35 ERA Veteran Lefty to Add Depth Behind **Aroldis Chapman**-Led Bullpen**

The Boston Red Sox had one of the strongest bullpens in the American League last season, led by dominant arms such as Aroldis Chapman and Garrett Whitlock. However, the team has since lost some bullpen depth during the offseason, particularly in the late-inning relief group before the eighth and ninth frames.

To address this weakness, some analysts suggest bringing back veteran left-handed reliever Justin Wilson, who was an important bullpen contributor for Boston in 2025. According to Fansided’s Zachary Rotman, Wilson provided underrated value under manager Alex Cora and could help strengthen the team’s left-handed relief options.

Rotman noted that while Chapman is expected to handle ninth-inning duties, the Red Sox still need reliable left-handed arms to neutralize dangerous hitters in high-leverage situations earlier in games. Aside from Chapman, the team’s primary left-handed relief option is currently Jovani Moran, who has limited major league experience.

Wilson had a solid 2025 season, posting a 4–1 record with a 3.35 ERA, 57 strikeouts, and a 1.407 WHIP across 61 appearances. Although he is not considered a high-profile star, he is viewed as a dependable and efficient bullpen arm, and his projected one-year, $1.46 million contract would be a low-risk addition.

The only uncertainty surrounding a potential reunion is Wilson’s reported consideration of retirement, but if Boston can persuade him to continue playing, re-signing him could help the Red Sox strengthen their roster as they pursue another competitive season.
