Another Star Departs: Mizzou Suffers Another Blow as Tigers Lose Yet Another Top-Tier Talent, Leaving the Backcourt Open

Sebastian Mack Follows Anthony Robinson II Out of Missouri Backcourt

Although the transfer portal officially opens after the National Championship game, many players have already announced their intentions to enter once it becomes active.

Following the news of Anthony Robinson II’s upcoming departure, former UCLA transfer Sebastian Mack has now made his intentions clear, signaling another change in Missouri’s backcourt.

Role Diminishes as Season Progresses

A Chicago native, Mack began the season as a starter for the Tigers, but his fit within the rotation fluctuated as the season went on.

After starting the first nine games, Mack’s playing time decreased significantly once SEC conference play began.

He appeared in only five conference games and logged more than 10 minutes on the court just once, during a 26-point loss to Alabama.

Over the course of the season, Mack played in 18 games, averaging 12 minutes per contest and scoring 7.0 points on 40.7% shooting.

Career Journey from UCLA to Missouri

Mack, a 6-foot-3, 195-pound junior combo guard, began his college career at UCLA, where he averaged 12.1 points per game as a freshman.

However, his minutes and role declined under coach Mick Cronin during his sophomore season, prompting him to enter the transfer portal.

He ultimately chose Missouri, hoping to rejuvenate his college career and make an impact in Dennis Gates’ program.

Unfortunately, this past season saw Mack’s offensive efficiency drop to a career low, and his role diminished as the Tigers struggled to find consistency on the floor.

High School Background and Recruiting Profile

Mack was a 4-star recruit out of Coronado High School in Las Vegas, Nevada. His athleticism and scoring ability made him a sought-after prospect, but recent struggles have limited his impact at the collegiate level.

Missouri Looks to Rebuild the Backcourt

With the departures of Mack and Robinson, Missouri will look to retool its backcourt, giving the coaching staff an opportunity to develop younger players and bring in new talent through the transfer portal or recruiting. These changes mark another step in reshaping the roster as the Tigers aim to regain consistency and competitiveness in the SEC.
