South Carolina has landed a major addition from the transfer portal, as four-star guard Kory Mincy officially committed to the Gamecocks on Friday.
The 6-foot-2 guard out of East Point, Georgia, is coming off a strong 2025–26 season at George Mason, where he developed into one of the team’s most reliable performers.
Mincy played in 33 games, starting 32 of them, and averaged 14.3 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game. He shot an efficient 44% from the field and 38.9% from beyond the arc, knocking down 68 three-pointers while also contributing 35 steals on the defensive end.
Advanced metrics from Beyond the Portal highlight Mincy’s strength as a scorer, grading him at 74 (B-) in scoring efficiency. He also posted solid marks in athleticism (68, C+) and defense (64, C+), showcasing a well-rounded skill set and the ability to consistently impact the game while stretching the floor.
Prior to his time at George Mason, Mincy began his collegiate career at Presbyterian, where he emerged as an all-conference level guard.

In the 2024–25 season, he earned All-Big South honorable mention honors and proved he could rise to the occasion, including a standout 27-point performance at Colonial Life Arena on 10-of-17 shooting—giving him firsthand experience on South Carolina’s home court.
The Gamecocks made a strong push to bring Mincy on campus this week, and that visit ultimately sealed the deal. He selected South Carolina over other notable programs, including Ohio State, Ole Miss, and Pittsburgh.
Mincy now stands as a significant pickup for head coach Lamont Paris and his staff as they continue rebuilding through the transfer portal.
With his three-level scoring ability and experience, he provides South Carolina with a proven and dynamic presence in the backcourt heading into next season.
