Kentucky Wildcats men’s basketball is set to host a major transfer target this week, as Donnie Freeman, a forward transferring from Syracuse Orange men’s basketball, is expected to visit Lexington, likely on Tuesday, according to reports from Bleed Blue Network and KSR.
Freeman, a 6-foot-9 forward, is coming off a strong season in which he averaged 16.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game while also adding defensive production with nearly a steal and a block per contest. He shot 47.4% from the field over 23 games, though his 30.2% three-point shooting indicates room for improvement from deep.
A former five-star recruit in the 2024 class, Freeman entered college with significant expectations and is currently rated as a four-star transfer by 247Sports. He led Syracuse in both scoring and rebounding, showing his ability to impact games on multiple levels.

Ranked 15th nationally in his high school class and now 14th in the 2026 transfer portal rankings, Freeman has quickly become one of the most in-demand players available.
Kentucky’s recruitment efforts have also generated buzz off the court, as fans have actively campaigned for top targets with messages displayed outside a local fraternity house.

The trend began with “Come Home Tyran” for No. 1 recruit Tyran Stokes, followed by “Come Home Rob” for guard Rob Wright, and now includes “Come Home Donnie.”

The movement even caught the attention of Kentucky staff, with assistants Mo Williams and Mikhail McLean stopping by the location, and McLean reportedly FaceTiming Freeman during the visit—further fueling Kentucky’s push to land the highly coveted forward.
