Sophie Cunningham is running it back in Indiana alongside Caitlin Clark and Lexie Hull, as the former Missouri standout has agreed to a new one-year deal with the Indiana Fever for her second season with the franchise, the team announced Sunday.
Cunningham, Hull, and Clark remain part of the Fever’s emerging core that helped the team capture the 2025 Commissioner’s Cup title. The veteran guard is entering her eighth WNBA season and signed under the league’s new collective bargaining agreement, which is expected to deliver the highest salaries in league history.
While contract terms were not disclosed, veterans with seven to nine years of experience are eligible for a minimum salary of about $292,500. Cunningham entered the offseason as an unrestricted free agent.
Last season, she averaged 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.2 assists across 30 games before suffering a torn MCL that ended her year early.

Known as a reliable 3-and-D contributor, she also posted career-best shooting numbers, hitting 46.9% from the field and 43.2% from three-point range—ranking among the league’s best shooters.

Cunningham originally joined Indiana after being traded from the Phoenix Mercury, where she spent six seasons playing alongside stars like Diana Taurasi and Brittney Griner, appearing in 182 games.
Off the court, the Columbia, Missouri native continues to grow her media presence as an influencer, podcast host, and broadcaster, contributing to USA Network’s WNBA coverage and digital platforms.
The WNBA season tips off May 8, with the Fever opening at home against the Dallas Wings on May 9.
