Washington Huskies Pull Off Another Transfer Portal Win: Program Continues Aggressive Reload by Landing Yet Another Proven Impact Player in Major Offseason Shakeup 😳

The Washington Huskies added another transfer piece on Wednesday night when Gonzaga forward Steele Venters committed to coach Danny Sprinkle’s program, giving the team its second portal addition of the offseason.

The 6-foot-7 Ellensburg native averaged 5.0 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in 15 minutes per game during the 2025–26 season, starting nine of 27 appearances while shooting 38.6% from the field and 36.7% from three-point range.

Venters’ season was a modest step forward after a difficult stretch at Gonzaga, where he eventually fell out of the rotation late in the year and did not play in the final five games as the Bulldogs finished 31–4 and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

His college career has been heavily impacted by injuries, including an ACL tear shortly after transferring from Eastern Washington in 2023 and an Achilles injury that sidelined him for the entire 2024–25 season.

Before those setbacks, Venters was viewed as a high-upside prospect after earning Big Sky MVP honors at Eastern Washington, where he averaged 15+ points per game and shot efficiently from both the field and beyond the arc, even drawing NBA attention at one point.

Now in need of an NCAA medical waiver for a potential fifth season, Venters joins a Washington roster that also recently added Davidson transfer Parker Friedrichsen and currently features a limited group of returning scholarship players as the Huskies continue rebuilding ahead of the transfer portal deadline.
