Tennessee football continued to lock down in-state talent on Monday by securing a commitment from three-star defensive back Brandon Leavell out of Madisonville, Tennessee, a city situated between Knoxville and Chattanooga.
Leavell chose the Vols over major programs such as Florida Gators football and Clemson Tigers football, making his commitment only hours after Tennessee target Jarrell Chandler announced his pledge to Clemson Tigers football.
The standout prospect from Goodpasture Christian School measures 6-foot-2 and 170 pounds and brings impressive versatility as a multi-sport athlete.
Along with competing in basketball and track, Leavell stars on both sides of the ball as a wide receiver and defensive back.
Last season, he recorded 35 catches for 735 yards and 12 touchdowns while also snagging four interceptions, and he could eventually develop into a safety at Tennessee.

According to 247Sports Composite rankings, Leavell is rated as the No. 604 overall prospect in the 2027 recruiting class, the No. 44 athlete nationally, and the No. 28 player in Tennessee.
With Leavell’s commitment, Tennessee Volunteers football now holds eight commitments in its 2027 class. Three of those commits project as defensive backs, including Leavell alongside three-star safety Jaden Butler and three-star cornerback Carter Jamison.
