South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer and his staff are preparing for an active stretch on the recruiting trail this summer, with several highly rated prospects scheduled to visit campus before the NCAA dead period begins in late June.

Among the key targets is 4-star EDGE rusher Success Nwabude, a standout from Athens Christian in Georgia whom the Gamecocks are heavily pursuing. Ranked by 247Sports as the No. 26 EDGE rusher nationally in the 2027 class and the No. 34 overall prospect in Georgia, Nwabude has become a priority defensive target for South Carolina, which has already scheduled his official visit for June 5.

According to his 247Sports profile, South Carolina currently holds “warm” interest alongside programs such as Georgia Tech, Georgia, and Missouri. Nwabude will also take official visits to those schools in the coming weeks, beginning with Georgia Tech on May 29, followed by Georgia on June 12 and Missouri shortly after.

The highly sought-after recruit has attracted offers from several major programs, including Arkansas, Florida State, Kentucky, Maryland, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, and Virginia Tech, with Florida also extending an offer earlier this month.

On the field, Nwabude is a versatile athlete who contributes on both the offensive and defensive lines. Last season, he recorded 14 solo tackles and a fumble recovery in just five games, according to MaxPreps.

Success Nwabude: The early leader for the 2027 recruiting story of the year

South Carolina currently does not have an EDGE commitment in its 2027 recruiting class, making Nwabude an especially important target as the staff looks to strengthen its future defensive front.

All eyes will be on his upcoming visits to see whether the Gamecocks can make a strong enough impression to move him closer to a commitment.
