Missouri football has reportedly lost one of its newest additions before the young prospect ever had the opportunity to take the field in a game for the Tigers.
The unexpected development comes just months after the player arrived on campus as part of the program’s highly regarded 2026 recruiting class, creating questions about the future of a recruit who was once considered an important piece of Missouri’s offensive line depth.
Reports surfaced on Wednesday indicating that offensive lineman Brandon Anderson is no longer with head coach Eli Drinkwitz’s program.
The news comes as a surprise given that Anderson had already enrolled at Missouri and participated in spring practices, a crucial period for incoming freshmen looking to make an early impression on the coaching staff and begin adjusting to the college level.
Report Confirms Anderson’s Exit
According to PowerMizzou’s Cody Goodwin, who cited multiple sources familiar with the situation, Anderson has officially parted ways with the Tigers.
Further fueling speculation surrounding the move is the fact that Anderson is no longer listed on Missouri’s official football roster, a strong indication that his time with the program has come to an end.
The departure leaves Missouri without one of the offensive linemen it worked hard to secure during the 2026 recruiting cycle.
While Anderson was not expected to immediately step into a starting role, he was viewed as a developmental prospect with significant upside due to his size, strength, and physical attributes.
A Highly-Recruited Prospect Out of Georgia
Before arriving in Columbia, Anderson built a reputation as one of Georgia’s notable offensive line prospects while playing at North Cobb High School in Kennesaw.
Standing 6-foot-3 and weighing approximately 340 pounds, he possessed the type of frame that Power Four programs actively seek when recruiting interior offensive linemen.
Recruiting services viewed Anderson as a solid national prospect. The 247Sports Composite rankings listed him as a 3-star recruit, the No. 46 interior offensive lineman in the country, the No. 64 overall player in the state of Georgia, and the No. 605 prospect nationally regardless of position.
Those rankings reflected the widespread interest he generated throughout his recruitment.
National Powers Entered the Recruiting Battle
Anderson’s recruitment featured interest from some of college football’s most recognizable programs.
Schools such as Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Miami, and Texas A&M all extended scholarship offers or expressed significant interest during the process.
The lengthy list of suitors demonstrated that coaches across the country believed Anderson had the tools to develop into a productive college lineman.
Landing a player with that level of national attention was considered a noteworthy recruiting win for Missouri when the Tigers ultimately secured his commitment.
A Recruitment Filled With Twists and Turns
The path that eventually led Anderson to Missouri was far from straightforward. In October 2024, he announced a commitment to Tennessee, appearing ready to join the Volunteers’ future recruiting class. However, that commitment proved to be short-lived.
By January 2025, Anderson decided to reopen his recruitment and officially decommitted from Tennessee. The move reignited interest from multiple schools and created another competitive battle for his services.
Over the following months, Missouri positioned itself as a leading contender, competing alongside programs such as Maryland, North Carolina, and Tennessee once again.
Missouri eventually emerged as the winner when Anderson announced his commitment to the Tigers on June 29. He later signed with the program during the early signing period in December before enrolling on campus in January to begin his college career.
Questions Remain About His Departure
Despite confirmation that Anderson is no longer with the program, the circumstances surrounding his departure remain unclear. No official explanation has been provided publicly, and reports indicate that the reason for his exit is currently unknown.
As Missouri continues preparing for the upcoming season, Anderson’s departure represents an unexpected roster change involving a player who had only recently arrived on campus.
