2027 Recruit: Tennessee Football Pulls Off Major Recruiting Flip, Lands Another Highly-Touted Three-Star Prospect for 2027 Class

Dayon Cooper has changed his college plans, flipping his commitment from Florida State to Tennessee and giving the Volunteers an in-state addition to their 2027 recruiting class.

The versatile prospect from South Pittsburg High School in Tennessee is a 3-star recruit according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, where he is listed as the No. 22 player in the state, the No. 31 athlete nationally, and the No. 515 overall prospect in the Class of 2027.

Cooper’s decision may have been influenced by his projected position at the next level.

While Florida State recruited him primarily through cornerbacks coach Blue Adams, Tennessee’s pursuit was led by wide receivers coach Kelsey Pope, suggesting the Volunteers could envision him playing on offense.

The flip leaves Florida State with 10 commitments in its 2027 class, which currently ranks No. 55 nationally.
