Another Setback for Philadelphia’s Pitching Depth

The Philadelphia Phillies have suffered another blow to their pitching depth, with left-hander Kolby Allard set to miss the remainder of the 2026 season.

Allard, 28, was placed on the injured list at Triple-A Lehigh Valley earlier this month, and the Phillies have now moved him to the 60-day injured list.

The move effectively ends his season and leaves Philadelphia without one of its experienced left-handed depth options.

Allard Was Brought Back for Rotation Depth

Philadelphia reunited with Allard in June after he opted out of his minor-league contract with the Cleveland Guardians.

The Phillies signed the veteran southpaw to a minor-league deal and assigned him to Triple-A Lehigh Valley, where he was expected to provide additional starting-pitching depth.

Before joining Philadelphia, Allard had made eight appearances, including five starts, for Triple-A Columbus and posted a 4.11 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 28 strikeouts against nine walks over 30⅔ innings.

Injury Comes at an Unfortunate Time

The timing is particularly frustrating for the Phillies because organizational pitching depth has been an important storyline throughout the season.

Philadelphia has relied heavily on its established rotation while also trying to develop and evaluate additional options at Triple-A.

Allard’s experience in both the rotation and bullpen made him a potentially useful insurance piece, but his injury now removes another option from consideration as the club enters the most important portion of the schedule.

His placement on the 60-day injured list confirms that he will not be available to help the Phillies again in 2026.
