The Texas Rangers made several roster moves after injuries hit their bullpen.
Relievers Chris Martin and Luis Curvelo were both placed on the 15-day injured list, with Martin dealing with a shoulder impingement and Curvelo sidelined by a biceps strain.
In response, the team selected the contracts of right-handers Gavin Collyer and Cal Quantrill to fill the vacancies.
To clear space on the 40-man roster, the Rangers moved Cody Bradford from the 15-day to the 60-day injured list, indicating a longer recovery timeline, and designated reliever Marc Church for assignment.
Both Martin and Curvelo exited the previous game due to their injuries, and while it wasn’t initially certain they would require IL stints, the Rangers opted to act quickly.
Given Martin’s injury history and Curvelo’s role, the team chose not to delay the decision.
Collyer, 24, is set to make his MLB debut after being originally drafted by Texas in the 12th round in 2019. After inconsistent performances early in his minor league career, he showed significant improvement in 2025, splitting time between Double-A and Triple-A.
He impressed during spring training and has carried that momentum into the season, posting strong numbers at Round Rock with improved command and strikeout ability, making him a potential late-inning option.

Quantrill, a veteran arm, is expected to provide depth in a long relief or mop-up role for the time being after strong recent performances in the minors.
Meanwhile, Bradford’s move to the 60-day IL suggests his return will be delayed beyond earlier expectations, following setbacks during his rehab process.

One of the more surprising decisions was designating Marc Church for assignment. Once viewed as a promising bullpen prospect, Church made his MLB debut in 2024 but has struggled with command and consistency, both in spring training and early minor league action this season.
The Rangers now have a week to decide Church’s future, whether through a trade, waiver claim, or release.
