Despite their strong play, Philadelphia still has areas that need improvement before the trade deadline.
One of the club’s biggest concerns has been inconsistent offensive production from the outfield, making it a logical target for reinforcement as the postseason race intensifies.
According to Kerry Miller of Bleacher reports, the Phillies’ ideal solution could be Byron Buxton.
The star center fielder has long been viewed as a potential trade candidate amid the struggles of the Minnesota Twins, and his combination of power, speed, and elite defense would provide a major boost to Philadelphia’s lineup.
While key contributors such as Bryce Harper, Brandon Marsh, and Kyle Schwarber have performed well, the offense has also experienced prolonged slumps from players like Trea Turner, J. T. Realmuto, and Alec Bohm.
Combined with the season-ending loss of Adolis García, the need for outfield help has become even more apparent.
However, any pursuit of Buxton would face a significant obstacle: his full no-trade clause. Even if the Twins decide to move veterans before the deadline, Buxton would ultimately control his own future.
