The latest move came when the Phillies signed former Cleveland Guardians outfield prospect Wuilfredo Antunez to a two-year minor league contract.
The 24-year-old became available shortly after departing the Guardians organization, and Philadelphia moved quickly to bring him aboard.
Multi-year minor league contracts are relatively uncommon, particularly for younger players who have yet to establish themselves, making the agreement a notable investment by the Phillies.
Antunez was once viewed as one of Cleveland’s more intriguing outfield prospects and earned recognition for his strong 2025 campaign.
His development was slowed by a bout with right shoulder tendinitis during the Arizona Fall League, and he has struggled offensively this season.
Nevertheless, the Phillies appear to believe there is still untapped potential in his game and are willing to provide additional time for him to rediscover his form.
