The Texas Rangers promoted top outfield prospect Alejandro Osuna from Triple-A Round Rock to make his major league debut on Sunday afternoon against the Chicago White Sox.
In corresponding roster moves, the team placed designated hitter/first baseman Joc Pederson on the 10-day injured list and designated outfielder Kevin Pillar for assignment.

Osuna, 22, was slated to start in left field and bat sixth in Sunday’s game. The 2024 Rangers Minor League Player of the Year, Osuna has posted a .279 batting average with two home runs and 15 RBIs across 39 games split between Double-A Frisco and Triple-A Round Rock this season. MLB Pipeline ranks him as the No. 7 prospect in Texas’ farm system.

Pederson, 33, fractured his right hand after being hit by a pitch from Bryse Wilson during Saturday’s 10–5 loss to Chicago.
He remained in the game briefly, scoring on a Marcus Semien sacrifice fly before Kyle Higashioka took over as designated hitter.
Pederson, who signed a two-year, \$37 million contract in the offseason, is hitting a career-low .131 with two home runs and six RBIs in 46 games this year.
Pillar, 36, appeared in 20 games for Texas this season, batting .209 without a home run and driving in one run.
