The Philadelphia Phillies have stumbled out of the gate in the 2026 season, sitting at 8-10 and fourth in the NL East, as inconsistent hitting continues to prevent them from building momentum.
One of the biggest concerns has been All-Star third baseman Alec Bohm, who is struggling at the plate, leading to growing speculation that the team could consider moving on from him. A proposed solution suggests the Phillies pursue a trade for Houston Astros infielder and two-time All-Star Isaac Paredes to boost their offense.
In the suggested deal, Philadelphia would acquire Paredes, while Houston would receive pitcher Taijuan Walker along with prospects Dante Nori and Wen-Hui Pan, addressing the Astros’ need for pitching and outfield depth.

While Paredes hasn’t seen consistent playing time this season and owns modest numbers, he still compares favorably to Bohm and previously showed strong production in 2025 before Houston’s infield reshuffle.
With the Phillies in need of offensive help and more consistency across the lineup, adding a versatile bat like Paredes could provide flexibility in the infield or designated hitter spot, making him a potential upgrade if the team decides to make a move.
