Kansas State Wildcats football have lost one of their key special teams contributors as former wide receiver and kick returner Bryce Noernberg is no longer on the roster following a program transition under new leadership.
Noernberg, who served as a primary kick returner during the 2024 and 2025 seasons, was officially reported as departing the team through a social media message shared by his family, which pointed to roster changes following a coaching overhaul in Manhattan.
The departure comes after Kansas State brought in new head coach Collin Klein following the retirement of longtime coach Chris Klieman, with Klein quickly reshaping the roster and staff upon his arrival.
According to the post, Noernberg found himself lower on the depth chart after the coaching change and influx of new personnel, a common outcome when programs undergo major turnover and new systems are implemented.
Despite the exit, Noernberg had notable moments during his time with the Wildcats, including a 99-yard kickoff return touchdown against UCF and an overall average of nearly 28 yards per return across 20 attempts.
He also experienced adversity, including a costly fumble against Kansas in the Sunflower Showdown, though Kansas State still went on to win that matchup comfortably.
Noernberg now leaves the program with remaining eligibility and a brief but impactful special teams résumé as Kansas State continues adjusting under its new coaching era.
