South Carolina is looking to turn the page after a disappointing 2025 season in which the South Carolina Gamecocks finished 4–8 with just one SEC win.
That rebuild effort for 2026 got a boost on Saturday with the commitment of offensive tackle Vincent Chen, who is transferring from Stetson Hatters.
The 6-foot-8, 330-pound lineman’s representatives confirmed his move to the SEC, with reporters including CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz and Chris Hummer and 247Sports’ Hale McGranahan first sharing the news.
He’ll now join Shane Beamer’s squad as South Carolina looks to strengthen its offensive line with a major addition from the FCS ranks.
Chen’s arrival is notable given his leap from the Pioneer Football League to the SEC, but he arrives with proven production.
He played in all 12 games last season, earned All-Pioneer Football League honorable mention recognition, and has two years of experience at Stetson after seeing limited action as a freshman.
Despite being overlooked coming out of high school, he drew interest from multiple Power 4 programs before choosing South Carolina.
A multi-sport athlete from DeLand, Florida, Chen also competed in track and weightlifting in high school and served as a team captain as a senior, adding leadership traits to his profile.
His commitment marks South Carolina’s 27th transfer addition of the offseason as Beamer continues reshaping the roster in hopes of making the Gamecocks more competitive in the SEC during the 2026 season.
