Kansas State’s new head coach Casey Alexander is already making waves, but his former team at Belmont is feeling the impact of his departure, as another key player enters the transfer portal.
Following Tyler Lundblade, redshirt sophomore Drew Scharnowski became the second Belmont player to explore transferring after Alexander left. Standing 6-foot-9, Scharnowski was a first-team All-MVC selection in 2026 and ranked third on the Bruins in scoring while averaging six rebounds per game.

He notched double-digit points 12 times during conference play, including a five-game streak from
Dec. 13 to Jan. 1, with a season-high of 19 points in consecutive games against Murray State and Drake.

Scharnowski joins Lundblade as one of the starters recruited by Alexander at Belmont, highlighting the challenges the Bruins face in retaining top talent. Belmont finished the season as Missouri Valley Conference regular-season champions but fell short of the NCAA tournament after a quarterfinal loss to the Bulldogs.
