Another Hit to Missouri’s Backcourt
Missouri men’s basketball has taken another blow as another guard has entered the transfer portal, adding to the recent departures of Anthony Robinson II and Sebastian Mack. The losses continue to weaken the Tigers’ depth in the backcourt at a critical point in the offseason.
T.O. Barrett Enters the Transfer Portal
In a surprising development, T.O. Barrett is expected to leave Missouri and enter the transfer portal, according to Joe Tipton of On3. The move comes shortly after a season where Barrett emerged as a key contributor and rising talent within the program.
Breakout Sophomore Season
Barrett enjoyed a strong sophomore campaign, especially after stepping into the starting point guard role in January following Anthony Robinson II’s departure from the lineup. He quickly found his rhythm during conference play, putting together a five-game stretch of double-digit scoring performances.

One of his biggest highlights came in Missouri’s 73–69 win over Tennessee on February 24, when he exploded for a career-high 28 points. That performance showed his potential as a dynamic scoring guard and playmaker.
However, his season was not without inconsistency. In Missouri’s NCAA Tournament first-round loss to Miami (FL), Barrett was held scoreless, highlighting the ups and downs he experienced throughout the year.

What This Means for Missouri
With Barrett now out of the picture, Trent Pierce is projected to be the only returning starter for next season. That leaves Missouri with significant roster turnover heading into the offseason.

While the Tigers have secured one of the top recruiting classes in the country—featuring Jason Crowe Jr., Toni Bryant, and Aidan Chronister—the loss of multiple guards means the program now has an urgent need for experienced point guard help in the transfer portal to stabilize the roster moving forward.
